During the 2021 federal election, and again in the Ontario provincial election earlier this year, housing was a major point of focus — if not, the most important point of focus, for voters and candidates alike. Now in the 2022 municipal election season, the issue has reached a trifecta status: all levels of government acknowledge the acute housing demands across the country — particularly, the need for more affordable options, increased stock, and homeless shelter supports — yet, only siloed baby steps have been taken to address the issue.
